Currently Essex County Council in association with the Essex Planning Officers Association (EPOA), prepared a revised set of vehicle parking standards for the County in 2009. Following consultation in January to March 2010, these vehicle parking standards were adopted by the Council from the 1 June 2010.  The interpretation of these guidelines is what has been used in the planning of new developments.  Planning decisions throughout this time has established a precedence for parking provision. The guidelines are now old so need updating and consequently the EPOA are undertaking a review to produce a new set of parking standards. Our council has participated in the process.  Furthermore, parking standards are something that will be included in the Castle Point Plan that is currently being prepared
