Hello

My name is John Knott and I am PIP candidate for St. Michael's ward.

I have lived in Castle Point for over 23 years, the whole of this time living in St Michaels Ward.

I am married with two grown up children, four grandchildren, two dogs and some chickens!

I retired from a 30 year career with Essex Police in 2011 having spent my whole career on the ‘front line’ serving as a Constable and Sergeant. After retiring I worked 1:1 supporting a child with severe Cerebral Palsy.

I am passionate about preserving the Green Belt in this Borough, especially in St Michaels Ward.

It was for this reason that I joined PIP and am proud that PIP have already rejected applications to build on several Green Field sites in our Ward and  are on track to deliver a new local plan that will  prioritise Brown Field development.

I am also proud that PIP has transformed and streamlined the structure of our Council and has this year, to support our residents in the current financial climate, been able to freeze our Council Tax. This compares to a 5% ECC rise and neighbouring Councils being in serious financial difficulties.

I am a supporter of the ‘20 Is Plenty’  group in Daws Heath which is seeking to improve road safety particularly in St Michaels Road, Bramble Road and Daws Heath Road Areas.

Since being first elected last May I have had the privilege of meeting many local people and helping them with their individual concerns.

A vote for me is a vote for a local person living in the Ward, for someone who is committed to this area and someone who will continue to work hard to assist the people of St Michaels Ward.

It is also a vote for PIP…. A Party composed of local people from differing backgrounds, not driven by National Politics or Dogma ….. all wanting to put Community First.
